and Salt-Based Industries in Southeast Asia

Who We Are

Indonesia Salt Institute (IISI) is a non-profit organization founded by Prof. Dr. Ir. Rachmat Pambudy, MS (currently the Minister of National Development Planning / Head of Bappenas), Mr. Wahyu Sakti Trenggono (Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries), and Mr. Abraham Moose (President Director of PT Garam Persero).

The Salt Institute is an initiative supported by Indonesia’s Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries under Minister Sakti Wahyu Trenggono. It aligns with the national strategy for salt self-sufficiency and industrial downstream development. By integrating government, industry, and academia, the Institute aims to strengthen research, innovation, and value-added salt applications—from food and pharmaceuticals to cosmetics and battery materials.

IISI serves as a Center of Excellence for the development of salt and salt-based industries in Indonesia and
Southeast Asia.
